Let's get ready to rumble!

So, I've already decided that my blog is going to be the most random thing imaginable.  My last post (sorry viewers) was depressing.  This post, I'm going to ramble about football!

My Aaron Rodgers. Love.
I'm so excited for football season to begin!  I know it's only mid-July and we have at least a month until pre-season games, but I'm very ready.  I am also ready for fantasy football to begin!  I did two mock drafts today and learned a lot from doing them.  I never really knew what I was doing and basically just picked the highest ranked players.  Maybe that's why I've lost in fantasy for the past two years!

After both drafts, I took notes on how many players of each position were picked each round.  I think when I do more mock drafts (and my real drafts in the fall) I'm going to follow that.  I learned that it's not always best to pick a quarterback in the first round.  Many people picked QBs as late as the 7th round in both drafts!  Now, I don't think I could wait until even the third round to pick my quarterback, but we'll see what happens.

I also learned to pay attention to what week your player has a bye.  I tried not to pick all players from the same position with the same bye week.  For example, if one of my wide receivers had a bye week during week 7, and I was looking for another WR, I would look at their bye week and make sure it wasn't week 7 as well.  I made sure to do that with my backup players as well.

For my backup players, I picked a quarterback first (I had to!), then a few running backs, a few wide receivers and a tight end.  In my other drafts, I picked a quarterback, a few RBs and WRs first, a tight-end in the fifth or sixth round, a defensive/special teams team in about the eighth round and a kicker in the ninth or tenth.

So, if anyone reading this has any other good fantasy football drafting advice, I'm all ears!  And sorry to those readers who aren't football fans.  Just disregard this post. =]
